Summary of Position:

The Sales and Marketing Manager is the primary person responsible for working with NTEC’s customers and prospective customers handling commercial coal sales from NTEC’s three coal mines in Montana and Wyoming.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

- Responsible for the sales and marketing of low sulfur Powder River Basin coal produced my NTEC’s three coal mining operations.

- Represent NTEC’s commitment to quality, performance, and outstanding customer service.

- Understand customer needs, drivers and offers evaluation methodology.

- Drive value through creative contract structures.

- Managing contract fulfillment.

- Work with existing and prospective customers, handling all commercial sales activities including:

- Contract negotiations

- Offer preparations

- Mine visits

- Facilitating resolution of quality and transportation issues

- Serving as the focal point for customer interactions

- Develop market intelligence, reporting, and communications related to individual customer needs.

- Work with other team members to optimize NTEC’s value and focus on outstanding customer service.

- Remain updated on all significant market-based trends and projections.

- Apply new concepts and strategies in sales and transportation to ensure maximum commercial value is achieved.

- Use creative and analytical skills to maximize NTEC’s value.

- Maintain good communications and relationships with the individual mines to ensure excellent customer relations.

- Assist in short-range and long-range strategic efforts.

Necessary Qualifications:

Knowledge and Relevant Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or other technical related field and a minimum of 5 years’ related or prior experience in coal sales/procurement, origination, transportation, power generation, commodity or other energy related field

- Ability to travel 30% - 40% of time

- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills

- Excellent negotiator

- Experience closing meaningful/significant transactions

Skills:

- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

- Strong analytical, problem solving and organization skills

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) particularly strong Excel skills

- Self-starter and resourceful attitude with minimal instruction

Leadership/Management

- Must work well within a team environment and must build and manage key internal and external relationships

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to frequently sit with frequent forward bending and occasional rotation. The employee must rarely lift, carry and/or move up to 13 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is required to rarely push or pull up to 45 pounds horizontally. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required occasionally to walk; climb stairs; and stand with rare rotation. Rarely the employee is required to squat repetitively or reach up to 74”. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment:

Works in office environment and rarely site environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
