JOB TITLE: Maintenance Electrician

JOB STATUS: Non-Exempt Position

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:

Alone or in conjunction with other Authority personnel performs a wide variety of preventive, corrective, and electrical maintenance tasks on Authority equipment. Duties shall include checking

motor control centers, electric motors, submersible pumps, control panels, chemical feeders, belt and variable speed drives, and general maintenance tasks to assure proper operation. Checking electrical components and circuits as scheduled to troubleshoot problems and implement proper corrective measures when electrical failures occur. Emphasis on troubleshooting electrical controls, reading electrical schematics. Knowledge of controls utilizing milliamp voltages and PLC logic systems helpful. Installs electrical disconnects, breakers, fuses and power feed conductors as required. Able to interpret and make changes to electrical schematics as required. Reviews all equipment manuals as required to successfully troubleshoot and repair equipment. Use computer as needed to review, copy or download manuals and schematics as required. Use computer to complete purchase requisitions for parts. Shall also be able to communicate with the Purchasing Department to review outstanding purchase requests, as needed. Enter data, scan documentation, and complete updates as required to document maintenance activities in the Asset database. Responds to emergency calls after normal business hours, as required. Able to work as needed to complete scheduled and unscheduled jobs on Authority’s conveyance system.

DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Electrical certification or equivalent required. Individuals, who have completed course work in military service or an electrical apprenticeship from an accredited program, and have a minimum of three years of work experience in industrial electrical maintenance or electronics. Experience in water or wastewater treatment processes preferred. General mechanic experience is preferred.

SPECIFICJOB REQUIREMENTS MAY INCLUDE

(But are not limited to):

1. Must be a high school graduate (GED acceptable).

2. Must be knowledgeable in commercial and/or industrial electrical troubleshooting, maintenance, and safety practices.

3. Must have a valid Mississippi Driver’s license and be insurable, to drive Authority vehicles.

4. Must be able stand call for one week to respond to emergencies after normal working hours.

5. Must be physically capable of continuously lifting and carrying medium loads.

6. Must be able to climb ladders and stairs to service equipment.

7. Must be able to work in tight quarters and confined spaces as needed.

8. Must be able to work at heights.

9. Must be able to work in water/wastewater environment and adapt to exposure of odors.

10. Must be able to attain a Mississippi Commercial driver's license by the end of first year of employment (Class "D" or higher).

11. Must maintain a residence, which allows a reasonable response time if called upon.

12. Will perform all other assignments (housekeeping, wash vehicles, grass cutting, etc…) as requested by Lead/Supervisor.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.88 - $27.00 per hour
