The 2nd Shift Mill Operator – Machinist II will be responsible for the following:
- Machine parts to specifications using Manual Horizontal and Vertical Mills and/or CNC milling equipment
- Read blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work
- Perform dimensional layout on all machined parts to confirm conformity to prints and routing instructions; complete required documentation (job card sign-off, SIS sheets, computer entry, etc.)
- Load, set, and touch off tooling applicable to program requirements
- Align and secure holding fixtures, vises, cutting tools, and materials onto milling machines
- Select appropriate speeds, feeds, and tooling for various materials
- Monitor feed and speed of machines during machining process; adjust offsets (wear, geometry, cutter comp, work shift, etc.) as needed
- Identify required surface finishes and ensure parts meet tolerance specifications
- Deburr and stamp parts per specifications
- Maintain a clean work area including chip removal, oil disposal, and general housekeeping
- Operate assigned milling machines independently with little to no guidance, including applicable setup
- Run multiple milling machines as required
- Use advanced trade mathematics and precision measuring instruments
- Observe all PPE requirements and safety rules including machining guards and safe lifting practices
- Complete all other duties as assigned
- High School Diploma / GED from an accredited institution
- Must be able to work 2nd Shift
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating manual and/or CNC milling machines; experience in oil & gas, power, heavy equipment, or automation & controls preferred
- Advanced knowledge of precision measuring tools such as dial and Vernier calipers, ID/OD micrometers, depth mics, and indicators
- Ability to read and interpret complex product specifications and drawings
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and perform prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required
- Certification to operate forklift, pallet jack, and crane
- Vo-Tech Certificate preferred
