Lubrication Technician-NIGHTS - Mingo Junction

SMS Mill Services, LLC is a leader in the steel mill services industry prioritizing recycling and environmental/workers’ safety and handling all operations with integrity. SMS is seeking a highly skilled and safety-focused Lubrication Technician for its Mill Services site in Mingo Junction, Ohio. This is a 24/7 operation; located on steel mill property. This is a NIGHTS only position

- Draining the oil from a heavy equipment and replacing it to manufacturer specifications

- Topping off other fluids, including brake, power steering and windshield wiper fluid

- Inspecting the engine block and underbody for leaks and potential issues

- Checking tire pressure and filling tires with air as needed to manufacturer specifications

- Installing new parts, such as air filters, oil filters, windshield wipers and batteries

- Lubricating moving parts as necessary, including those in the engine and wheel bearings and ensuring the engine is kept clean throughout servicing

- Diagnosing existing issues and consulting with lead mechanics on the team to address the equipment issues

- Creating detailed service reports

Qualifications:

- An aptitude for mechanical diagnosis and repair

- Demonstrated experience with servicing vehicles

- A valid drivers license and the ability to work legally in the US

- Passing a drug screening and criminal background check

- Time management and organizational skills as well as hand-eye coordination

- Effective communication and customer service skills

- The ability to read and follow complex directions in manuals as well as relay information in reports

- The physical ability to perform all tasks related to the position of Lube Technician, such as bending and reaching, standing for long periods of time and lifting over 60 pounds

- Perform and document daily safety checks, follow all safety rules, wear PPE, provide a safe environment for all employees and visitors.

- NIGHTS ONLY

- Working overtime on weekdays and weekends

- PAY = $23/ hour
