Overview
Supervise a crew or four or more including supervisor. To see that service is provided to our new customers, to maintain existing services, upgrade facilities as requested and to help restore service during outages.
Responsibilities
- Must have the technical skills and ability to supervise line construction crew and maintenance crews in the installation and repair of our Transmission and Distribution facilities
- Must organize, plan and control the work from start to completion
- Must be able to train employees to operate without direct supervision
- Must know the abilities and capabilities of each employee
- Must be able to delegate part of each job to his crew
- Must promote teamwork
- Must be knowledgeable of rules, regulations, and policies, company safety and construction standards
- Recommend individuals deserving promotions, demotions, discharge, and discipline
- Must perform all work safely, obeying all Company safety rules and OSHA rules and regulations
- Must be knowledgeable of and use appropriate work policies and procedures
- Responsible for maintaining accurate records on all materials used and hours worked by employees on crew
- Must work with various departments within the Company to help accomplish overall goals
- Must work closely with Engineering Department, Safety Department, and Management
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years experience in construction or service work at the journey level of Line or Service Tech A.
- Experience as journey level Line Technician or Service Technician.
- Very desirable to be or have been a Line or Service Supervisor B.
- Must have good mathematical, literacy and communications skills
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be certifiable under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and have a Commercial Drivers License (Class A) with the following endorsement: air brakes
Attendance
Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance in this position.
Work Conditions
Regular working hours with frequent overtime. Exposure to severe weather, traffic, and high voltage equipment. A limited amount of overnight travel. Considerable responsibility and pressure.
Physical Effort
- Must have good vision and hearing
- Must have good physical coordination (lift and carry up to 50 lbs., stoop, bend, push, pull, etc.)
- Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use hand and power tools
