Communities Power is a growing, mission-driven solar installation company committed to expanding access to clean, affordable energy in residential, commercial, and community-based settings. As our projects continue to expand, we are seeking experienced Licensed Electricians to partner with us as independent contractors on an on-call, project-based basis.
The Licensed Electrician will serve as a 1099 Independent Contractor, providing professional electrical services for solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system installations. This role is ideal for an experienced electrician who values flexibility, high-quality work, and contributing to impactful clean energy projects.
- Install, wire, and commission solar PV systems
- Install, connect, and commission solar battery and energy storage systems
- Perform electrical panel upgrades, load center modifications, and service disconnect installations
- Complete AC/DC wiring, conduit runs, grounding, and bonding
- Interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and permit documents
- Ensure compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility interconnection requirements
- Troubleshoot and resolve solar and battery system issues
- Support inspections and coordinate with inspectors when required
- Maintain safe, clean, and professional job sites
- Provide required documentation and as-built information- 5+ years of experience as a licensed Electrician
- Demonstrated experience with solar PV and battery energy storage systems
- Valid Electrician license (state or local jurisdiction)
- Ability to supply own tools and reliable transportation
- Maintain required insurance (general liability; workers’ compensation if applicable)
- Strong working knowledge of NEC codes related to solar and energy storage
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable availability for scheduled and on-call project work
- NABCEP Certification (PV Installation Professional or Associate)
- Experience with residential, commercial, or community solar projects
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Experience with utility interconnection and inspections
- 1099 Independent Contractor
