Provides support, direction, and training to Machine Operators, and assists the Production Supervisor with day-to-day shift responsibilities and meeting production and quality goals.
- Assists the Shift Supervisor in assigning Machine Operators to the press(es) they will operate during their shift.
- Provide training to new Machine Operators
- Train new ops on paperwork and shop rules on shop floor
- Train new operators on standard work procedures on operator instructions
- Train production jobs and competency test operators for rate
- Train and test for quality criteria
- Cross train current operators on new jobs and test. If necessary, coach and retrain.
- Complete training Packets from HR on all new employees in 21 days.
- Update training matrix on floor for all employees and provide information to HR.
- Confer with management, supervisors, and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.
- Coordinate training schedule with the hiring and training demands of the production floor.
- Formulate teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
- Select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.
- Conduct training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, etc.
- Test trainees to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
- Report on progress of employees under guidance during training periods.
- Monitor methods used by employees for shipping and inbound duties and make on the spot corrections.
- Assist employees with problems concerning "how to" perform specific tasks related to their position.
- Make suggestions on improving work procedures in the facility.
- Develop strong relationship with all departments to develop course materials and receive feedback.
- Ensure work is being done in a safe and efficient manner.
- Works with Engineer(s), other personnel and resources to arrange for necessary tools and supplies.
- Inspects, coordinates and records work performed by the shift.
- Works in conjunction with the Tool Repair and Maintenance personnel in the case of repairs and preventative maintenance situations
- Assists in working out discipline problems with shift operators.
- Participates in interview process of new shift members.
- Ensures work areas are clean and maintained.
- Monitor and audit the production floor.

- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Prior Plastics Injection Molding experience preferred.
