The Lead Operator will be successful if they support daily operations, objectives and guidelines for staff, establish reliability targets and delegate tasks amongst staff. This role is critical to ensure safe, efficient and compliant facility operations. The ideal candidate is safety-driven and operationally knowledgeable.
Our ideal candidate has familiarity with truck, rail, terminal, and pipeline operations. This includes exposure to DOT, PHMSA, EPA and DEQ requirements.

- Lead and manage a team of approximately 10 employees across terminal, pipeline, rail, and truck operations.
- Champion a strong safety culture by enforcing safe work practices, hazard mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable permits, regulatory programs, and DOT/PHMSA requirements.
- Oversee facility operations, maintenance, electrical/instrumentation, sampling, and technology functions.
- Lead preventive maintenance and asset integrity programs to maximize reliability and minimize downtime.
- Monitor operating data to ensure compliance with operating limits and identify optimization opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, ensuring high levels of service, safety, and operational excellence.
- Manage contractor activities and engage effectively with vendors, local officials, first responders, and other stakeholders.
- Lead local emergency response preparedness and participate in mutual aid organizations.
- Contribute to the development and oversight of capital and improvement plans.
- Set clear objectives, delegate work effectively, and monitor team performance.
- Support the Terminal Manager in all day-to-day activities.
- Support employee development through training, competency assessments, performance management, and compensation reviews.
- Foster a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative team environment.
- 3-5 years experience in crude oil, terminal, pipeline or midstream operations.
- Responsible for assisting with the safe, efficient and compliant operations while ensuring adherence to WDEQ, DOT, PHMSA and EPA requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous supervisory or led experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with DOT/PHMSA, pipeline, terminal, rail, and truck operations preferred.
- Strong communication, organization and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with basic computer systems (Excel, Teams, Microsoft Office etc.)
- Valid drivers license required.
