About the Role
The Lead Meter Technician reports to the Meter Services Supervisor at Bermex . This position plays a key role in assisting the supervision of M eter I nstall T echnicians and ensuring all meter installations meet quality and safety standards , and acts as a liaison between the Meter Services Supervisor and Meter Ins tallers . This position requires a high degree of communication and leadership skills , excellent time management, and exceptional flexibility da y to day .
What You’ll Do
Assist in Daily Operations :
•Assist the supervisor in monitoring daily production, quality, and field related issues
•Assist with water line breaks
•Assist with repairs, as needed
•Perform audits on work completed by M eter I nstallers to ensure quality and safety standards are being met
•P articipate in weekly safety meetings
•Act as a liaison between the S upervisor and M eter I nstallers to help facilitat e team communication
•Schedule and monitor performance tas ks, i nstall s meters and perfo r ms validations
Performs Meter Installations :
•Exchange the following e lectric meter types : 1s, 2s, 2s 320, 12s, 25s, 9s, 16s
•Follow all procedures outlined in the Field Services Manual to safely exchange electric meters, gas modules, or water meters o n assigned routes. Each route is different and production expectations are given by the supervisor
•Identif y hazards or unsafe conditions at meter sites and report s accordingly
•Use handheld device s to collect project specific data points , including but not limited to , site inspection, address verification, old meter number, old meter reading, quality picture of old meter, quality picture of socket, thermal image and temperature scan of socket, new meter number, new meter module number, quality picture of new meter, socket GPS transformer number, transformer GPS, and comments as needed
•U se a paper copy called a route sheet to record all information on a paper for a backup if it is ever needed
•Ensure assigned route s are loaded on handheld s and all tools needed for job s are located and kept in work vehicle s
•Understand and follow s all job specific procedures
•Ensure the timely completion of all routes assigned
•Return all keys, handhelds, and paperwork as r equired
•Return all old meter inventory to appropriate areas at the end of each working day
•Enter all meter inventory prior to leaving the field in accordance with the inventory needed for the specific route being worked
Provide s Customer Communication & Ensure s Safety :
•Communicate with customers daily and follow s all outlined customer service policies
•P rovide general information about meter services to customers, when applicable
•Use telephones, tablets, and/or computers to communicate
•Wear and ensure others wear PPE du ring meter exchanges and advocates the importance of PPE during normal operations
•Ensure everyone follow s all procedures outlined in the Field Services Manual to safely exchange electric meters, gas modules, or water meters o n assigned routes ; e ach route is different and production expectations are given by the supervisor
•D rive a company vehicle appropriately marked for the specific project. Field Technician s are responsible for completing a safety walk around prior to leaving for their route. Field Technician s must also complete a vehicle inspection ( as required ) and follow all vehicle policies and rules of the roa d

About You
Must Haves:
•Education: None. M ust be 18 years of age or older
•Experience: At least 1 year of experience in the installation of water, gas, and/or electric meters or 1 year of experience in underground plumbing related to water services. Upon hire, the candidate will need to complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training. Mus t posse ss a valid driver’s license
Nice to Have:
•Education: High School D iploma or GED
•Experience: 3 or more years of experience in the installation of water, gas, and/or electric meters and/or underground plumbing related to water services; 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months working

•Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling
•Adequate time management skills to finish daily routes in a timely manner , figuring out an efficient way to finish the job for that day
•Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with management and customers
•Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner
•Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding
•Ability to walk long distances and prepare for weather conditions, accordingly
•Excellent knowledge of the geography and street locations in the community
This role would not be a good fit if you :
•Do not enjoy working independently
•Do not enjoy working in outdoor conditions
•Do not enjoy walking long distances
•Are not able to walk and stand extensive ly . Medium work requir es the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or up to 20 pounds of force routinely, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects. Will need to walk up to 20 miles per day in all kinds of weather including rain, sleet, hail, and snow . Must be able to work in all temperatures with daily ranges of -10 up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit
•Are not flexible and do not enjoy adapting to your current work schedule or routine
•Do not have adequate planning and time management skills to finish a days work in a timely manner
Drug/Alcohol Testing :
•Drug/alcohol testing is required
•Drug/Alcohol testing required per Non-Regulatory requirements for employees working with Water, Electric, meters
•Drug/Alcohol testing required per Federal DOT r egulations for employees working with g as meters
