Job Purpose:
Currently, we are seeking an experienced and qualified Utility Metering Technician. This candidate will be capable of repairing, testing, and programming electronic and mechanical meters for residential and commercial uses. Conduct field installation of self-contained and current and/or potential transformer meters. Conducts field testing of meters and current transformers. Applicant must have the ability to troubleshoot improper meter reading issues, read utility meters for the monthly billing cycle, and replace inoperable meters as well as other components associated with the metering systems.
Duties:
•Safely maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electronic meters, current transformers, potential transformers, and automated meter reading infrastructure.
•Installation of residential and commercial electronic meters and associated equipment.
•Manual read of utility meters for the monthly billing cycle
•Use electrical testing and calibration equipment.
•Setup, update, and utilize automated metering infrastructure (AMI) system.
•Interact with customers in a professional and courteous manner.
•Create and maintain reports manually and electronically.
Skills/Qualifications:
•Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required, additional courses in electrical technology highly beneficial. Five years minimum of increasingly responsible experience with an electric utility and three years of meter background is preferred.
•Possess all the troubleshooting, diagnosing and repair capabilities of a highly-skilled, professional technician involving mechanical and electronic meters, current transformers, potential transformers, and automated meter reading infrastructure.
•Thorough knowledge of AC & DC electrical circuitry and fundamentals.
•Familiar with industry standards for safe work procedures, including NESC, NFPA 70E, and proper utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE).
•Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, one line diagrams, and schematics.
•Utilize handheld meter reading devices, GIS mapping system to include GPS/GIS of meter data.
•Effectively communicate with others with good written, verbal, and listening skills.
•Strong proficiency with computers, including Windows operating system and Microsoft Office products.
•Willingness to work with others, learning and teaching new skills and abilities.
•Some overnight travel may be expected.
•Must work major all inclement weather events.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.50 per hour
