Group II: $20.5804 - $25.7255 (May 1, 2026 rates)
SYNERGY NORTH CORPORATION distributes electricity to approximately 50,000 residential customers and 6,000 commercial customers located in Thunder Bay and Kenora, Ontario. To do this, we are continuing to build on our strong team of professionals and have up to three temporary positions as a Labourer in Thunder Bay, Ontario. SYNERGY NORTH invests in the safety and wellbeing of our employees.
Under the general direction of a Supervisor and/or assigned staff member, the successful applicant will perform assigned work to support Powerline crews and Operations staff in a safe and efficient manner throughout the utility’s service area.
- Assist labour crews with duct installation and/or trenching.
- May be required to assist the Powerline, Station Maintenance, and/or Stores teams, as needed.
- Perform hand digging while working around other utilities.
- Use hand & gas-powered tools and equipment, such as a chain saw and forklift.
- Provide traffic control and flagging support for crews.
- Clean up construction sites, the Operations Centre yard, and other Synergy North properties.
- Perform general maintenance work, as required.
- Perform painting duties, both inside and outside.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
· Minimum Grade 12 Secondary School Graduation Diploma, or equivalent.
· Must have good reading comprehension and communication skills (written and verbal).
· High regard for personal and public safety in a team setting.
· Must have good customer relations, interpersonal skills and teamwork skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
· Minimum three (3) years of experience as a Labourer.
· Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and WHMIS.
· Must have and maintain a valid Class G driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
· Must be willing and able to work overtime, as required.
· Must be willing and able to work outdoors in all types of weather.
· Must be fit for duty and able to safely perform the essential duties of this safety sensitive position.
· Must successfully complete pre-employment screening requirements, including a Police Information Check and Drug and Alcohol testing.
