Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Laboratory Technician opportunity at the Catholic University of America’s Vitreous State Laboratory in Washington, DC.
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, performs routine chemical laboratory functions including, conducting chemical durability and other chemical tests and their associated measurements; receiving and tagging chemicals and chemical wastes and maintaining the chemical inventory; maintaining deionized water systems and verifying water quality. Works independently but in collaboration with other staff to support Vitreous State Laboratory (VSL) research needs.
- A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or a related scientific field is required. - 2+ years experience working in a chemical laboratory and using laboratory instrumentation and analytical equipment (pipettes, balances, pH meters, spectrometers, etc.).
- The ability to follow established laboratory operating and quality procedures, maintain written records, follow supervisor’s instructions, and comply with safety protocols.
- Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Proficient in the use of office productivity software and able to quickly learn and use instrumentation software.
- May be required to work with radioactive and/or hazardous materials wearing appropriate PPE.
- Performing repetitive tasks with precision
- Standing, Stooping, Climbing ladders
- Light lifting (occasional lifting of 25 lbs. or less)
- Manual Dexterity
- Mobility within expansive lab facilities
Pay is commensurate with education and experience and may range between $30.00-$65.00 per hour.
