Position Overview:

Motiva is hiring Laboratory Technicians to join our Quality Team at our Refinery in Port Arthur. In this role, you will perform critical testing and analysis on process samples to ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations, and quality control requirements. You will work in a fast-paced lab environment supporting production efficiency, product quality, and safe refinery operations.

Responsibilities:

- Communicate and coordinate with internal and external customers

- Adhere to and promote safety practices.

- Provide accurate and timely data to customers.

- Maintain all solvents and supplies used in one’s area.

- Perform all applicable Statistical Quality Control (SQC) activities.

- Conduct feed, product, process, environmental, etc. laboratory analyses and report results.

- Implement and apply causal learning.

- Attend training and re-certification as required.

- Complete recurring Health, Safety and Environmental tasks.

Experience and Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent education

To be considered for an interview, candidates must receive a passing score on the Lab Technician Qualification Test. Motiva will provide additional information to candidates who are selected to test.

Preferred Education and Experience:

- Associate’s degree or higher education in a science related field

- Previous experience working in a Laboratory or Quality Control Facility in an industrial or manufacturing environment, or other experience working in a technical or high responsibility role

Physical Requirements:

- Standing and walking for long periods of time

- Dexterity of hands for precision sample preparation and typing for data entry

- Frequent twisting/squeezing with hands for tool use, valve turning, and lid removal

- Squatting, kneeling, bending at waist occasionally

- Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds

- Occasional pushing/pulling heavy loads on rollers (gas cylinders)

- Occasional use of step ladders

- Use of Personal Protective Equipment, including goggles, face shield, and acid apron
