To assist with water and wastewater analytical testing, monitoring, and reporting requirements to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and internal goals. The internship is an amazing opportunity for an individual to gain knowledge and training in our water and wastewater labs. OWASA is seeking an Intern for both the water and wastewater laboratories.
- Collect regulatory and non-regulatory samples within the treatment plant system, and from surface waters and streams.
- Perform regulatory and non-regulatory chemical and microbiological sampling and analysis using EPA-approved methods, Standard Methods, and/or Standard Operating Procedures of water and surface waters, utilizing various analytical methods and equipment.
- Be a current college student in a science-based program (chemistry, biology, environmental science, or other applicable degree program).
- Completed some core classes related to the degree program (associate, undergraduate, and graduate degree track candidates are encouraged to apply).
- Maintain a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
- Demonstrate initiative, creativity, and ability to multi-task.
- Ability to follow directions and communicate concisely in both oral and written manner.
- Working 20 - 30 hours per week, up to 6 months.
- Not eligible for benefits.
- Pay will depend on qualifications and be between $20.00 - $22.00 per hour.
