As a Junior Civil/Structural Engineer (Member-In-Training/P.Eng.), you will begin your engineering career in an entry-level, developmental role with a focus on learning to apply theoretical knowledge you gained through school and/or previous experience. Your goal will be to engage with Irving Oil’s community of engineers, designers, purchasers, operations, maintenance and construction professionals, in a collaborative project environment. Your success will be demonstrated in your support of capital improvement initiatives at our operating facilities.

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with safety regulations, codes, industry standards and specifications
- Assist in the design, analysis and review of civil & structural components for capital and expense projects
- Assist more experienced engineers with complex tasks such as preparing technical drawings, calculations and reports
- Support the development and continuous improvement of Engineering Services work processes and management system
- Safely perform field activities at our operating facilities and construction sites as necessary to support the development of assigned tasks
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Show the ability to work collaboratively and learn from others
- Must be flexible and able to multi-task effectively
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer skills; should be familiar with common engineering software programs used as well as typical word & database software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
- Solid knowledge of core engineering concepts, practices, and procedures, with minimum 1-4 years’ experience
- Proficiency with structural analysis software is an asset
- Must be registered as a member-in-training or Professional Engineer with APEGNB, or other Canadian Provincial Engineering Association
