We are currently hiring for Journeyperson Mechanics/Millwrights to join the maintenance team at our Underground Salt Mine in Goderich, Ontario.

Compass Minerals’ Goderich Salt Mine, located 1,800 feet under Lake Huron, is the largest underground salt mine in the world. The mine is as deep as the CN Tower in Toronto is tall. The rock salt produced at the mine is used to keep citizens in North America safe as they travel through winter snow and ice. The salt is shipped to hundreds of communities around the Great Lakes and along the St. Lawrence Seaway. Some of the salt is trucked to the Compass Minerals plant less than 4 kilometers away, to be packaged for distribution and sale at retailers in North America. The salt is also sold in bulk to manufacturers that make plastics, detergents, disinfectants and other important products. Goderich is named Canada’s Prettiest Town and is best known for its stunning sunsets. Goderich is a lakeside community of 8,000 people located approximately 1.5 hours from London and Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.

How will you contribute to the team?

This position will be responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation work of mining infrastructure. The position will also be responsible for staffing the various fixed plant services on site.

- Installation of conveyor systems, crushers, feeders, screens and other infrastructure.

- Repair and maintenance of existing infrastructure both underground and on surface.

- Coordinating with other departments such as production, engineering, and hoisting to ensure smooth project coordination.

- Other duties as required.

What should you bring to the role?

- High School Diploma, coupled with one of the following trade license:

- 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

- 425A Agricultural Equipment Technician

- 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright

- 310T Truck and Coach technician

- 310S Auto Service Technician

- Valid Driver’s License.

- Experience as a Millwright/Mechanic in the mining industry or a similar heavy industrial environment.

- Experience on hydraulic systems.

- Experience and/or certification with CWB as a Welder.

- Red Seal Certified preferred.

- Proficient in Microsoft Suite Office Programs (Work, Excel, PowerPoint).

What is the work schedule?

- Currently, this is a Monday-Friday position working a rotating 8-hour shift schedule. Shift schedule is subject to change.

- This position is expected to work underground.

- If you do not live nearby, you will be required to relocate.
