Under indirect supervision performs intermediate level installation, maintenance and repair of various Telecommunications and IT related equipment using accepted practices and procedures.
This position is first shift. Hours are as follows: 12-hour shift, 7am-7pm, pitman schedule week 1 Mon, Tues, Fri; week 2 Sat, Sun, Wed Thur. Two-week rotations with scheduled overtime.
- Provide support for technical inquiries received via phone, email, alerting systems, and messaging applications from supporting technical groups.
- Assess the nature of problems and resolve basic server based and mainframe support issues. Troubleshoot OS software and hardware issues. Perform mainframe troubleshooting and SUBPDS.
- Log or record support tickets and/or cases in ServiceNow or with supporting vendors. For more complex issues, transfer internal customers to second/third-level technicians.
- Coordinates restoration of service through Major/Significant incident processes to include contacting participants, hosting calls, and insuring documentation collection.
- Password vault retrievals and annual NERC-CIP password changes
- Visitor management to include escorting duties at the Data Centers
- Mainframe master console monitoring with periodic mainframe IPLs
- Shipping/Receiving duties at the Data Center
- TCP/IP assignments and changes
- Promote Windows Servers to Production
- Physical Server Support to include physical server reboots, bios changes, hot swap parts replacements, addition of memory, remote hands, etc.
- Web Methods deployments and restarts
- Cognos and other production migrations
- Storm Mode implementations and notifications
- Communications of PJM Weather Alerts
- Monitoring of Building Maintenance Systems
- Data Center walkthroughs
- Investigation of call home alarms from equipment
- Application Failover support (Bundle Moves)
- Annual Blackstart support for each data center
- Perform basic to intermediate installation, system testing, troubleshooting, and technology issue resolution Produce required documentation.
- Work to gain knowledge and understanding of various Telecommunications/IT technologies and business processes.
- Use existing procedures to solve routine or standard problems.
- Assist in database and record keeping systems for work and asset tracking. Participate in cross-training of various telecommunications and IT systems.
Education: Associate's degree in computer science, electrical/electronic engineering/technology or related field of study; or technical degree/certificate, or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience.
Experience: In addition to any experience required above, 2 years' technical or relevant work experience is required.
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required. An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
