The IT Manager is responsible for managing our growing infrastructure and facilitating the evolution of our network and business systems.
As a 100% hands-on position reporting directly to the owner, the ideal candidate has well-rounded experience across multiple areas of IT as well as the aptitude to translate business requirements into technical solutions. The ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize and adapt to changing requirements is a must. Resourcefulness and willingness to dig into the details is key.
The IT Manager’s primary responsibility is the planning, acquisition, upgrading and implementation of technology systems including ERP, eCommerce, CRM, PIM, CMS, CAD, CAM, EDI, Microsoft Office suite, time & attendance, and other cloud services as well as internal network (AD), end point security, email, phones, hardware, and data backup.
Equally important, the IT Manager is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance and customization of the company’s ERP system (currently Syspro) and associated integrated software. Overall administrative duties include verifying setup options and defaults are optimized, facilitating bulk updates of products & pricing, auditing transactions, enabling/disabling functionality, managing user security, design business processes and workflows, report and document generation, and configurating integrations with other software.
Front end coding skills including HTML, CSS and JavaScript will be extremely helpful. Ability to consume APIs from various sources as well as back-end skills including Microsoft IIS and/or Nodejs, AWS or Azure are also highly desirable. Database skills including writing queries and stored procedures, managing databases, imports, exports and backups on Microsoft SQL Server would also be extremely helpful.
Being a power-user of Microsoft office suite including Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Sharepoint and Access is desired. The ability to create, consume, modify, transform and manipulate data in Excel and to help others with the same is a regular occurrence. Updating databases with data received from outside sources and/or creating data-based reports with Excel is also a recurring need.
Good project management skills will be critical in managing outside services, developers and internal projects. This position is responsible for managing project budgets and timelines as well as for driving deliverables and meeting milestones and goals. Familiarity with project or task management software is a plus.
Primary responsibilities include:
•Maintain essential IT infrastructure including network, servers, workstations, security, communications, database, business systems, eCommerce and productivity applications and provide technical support for all.
•Lead various initiatives involving the acquisition, creation and integration of new software applications.
•Hands-on configuration, customization, implementation, integration and upgrade of the company’s ERP and various other software applications and systems. Continually tailor applications to suit company’s needs and support business processes and customer requirements.
•Work with different departments and teams to understand their needs and ensure the ERP system meets their requirements.
•Develop and maintain system documentation, including user instructions and standard operating procedures.
•Manage eCommerce websites including design, integration, support and ensuring excellent customer experience. An understanding of digital marketing concepts and technologies and ability to interface with sales & marketing departments is a plus.
•Design and generate KPIs and other metrics to gauge performance and monitor ROI.
•Diagnose and resolve IT issues and be primary technical support for hardware, software and communication applications.
•Liaison with outside vendors and contractors and with internal users to facilitate new functionality, expeditiously resolve issues, and improve productivity.
•Monitor system performance and identify improvements to optimize efficiency and usage.
Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in information technology, engineering, or Business or equivalent experience.
•Minimum of five years as an IT Manager or lead.
•Minimum 5 years experience working with a major ERP software package.
•Minimum 5 years direct involvement with manufacturing and/or distribution business operations with focus on inventory control/catalog management, order processing, job management, and accounting.
•Familiarity with eCommerce systems including shopping carts, UX design, CMS, user management & security, and shipping and payment systems.
•Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments
•Experience managing a small network including endpoint security and threat prevention, VPN, Wireless access and utilizing/integrating cloud services.
Skills
•Proficiency in using and managing Microsoft Office 365 suite.
•Front-end coding skills including HTML, CSS and JavaScript and familiarity with data structures in JSON, XML.
•Back-end coding skills such as Visual Basic/VB Script, C#, node.js.
•Database skills including schema design, complex queries, stored procedures, triggers, import/export, ETL, etc.
•Power user of Microsoft applications including Excel, Power BI, Power Apps
•Exposure to low-code/no-code application development would be an additional plus.
This position is Full -time, on-site (not remote). Must be local to Metro-Detroit area. Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am – 5:30pm (50 hours). Occasional night/weekend only as necessary.
