Overview:
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Manager, IT Services will lead and oversee a team responsible for key IT functions, including the Help Desk, fieldservices, software solutions, infrastructure, security, and IT project delivery. This role provides strategic direction, mentorship, and performance oversight to team members while ensuring compliance with IT standards and controls. The Manager, IT Services will also manage operational budgets, collaborate with stakeholders to acquire, develop, and support IT services, and drive continuous improvement. This role requires deep knowledge of IT infrastructure, software applications, support operations, and industry best practices—along with strong communication, project management, and analytical skills. The Manager, IT Services is ultimately accountable for delivering secure, compliant, high-quality IT services that effectively support organizational needs.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:* Manage and oversee an IT team responsible for assigned applications and services including the help desk and field services.
•For the assigned set of IT services, manage the solution space, including vendor services, software, infrastructure, security, and data management.
•Manage IT projects, including planning, financial management, resource allocation, and scheduling.
•Elicit and analyze business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions for IT needs.
•Ensure that IT services are secure and comply with IT architectural standards.
•Provide training and technical support for the set of assigned IT services.
•Ensure compliance with IT controls, including preparing and approving audit reports.
•Manage operational budget and expenses.
•Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and systems to ensure business continuity.
•Maintain accurate documentation and records of IT assets, systems, contracts, and procedures.
•Collaborate with other IT Managers, Architects, and Project Managers.
•Manage the development and skills advancement of the team.
•Manage vendors, contracts, and associated invoice payments.
OTHER FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:* Comply with all safety rules and cooperate in the fullest in the promotion of safety and safe work habits, to include the reporting of any unsafe conditions or acts. Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis.
•Comply with all applicable corporate and Hawaii Gas policies and procedures.
•Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and/or instructed. Works in a safe and responsible manner.
•Performs all other related duties as instructed by supervisor/manager.
Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Work Experience:* Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
•Five (5) or more years of experience in IT management, including leading technical projects, analyzing business processes, and implementing systems and process improvements.
•Demonstrated experience leading and managing software and infrastructure projects.
•Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems
•Two (2) or more years of managing software applications.
•Two (2) or more years of experience working in IT operations.
•Proficient in Microsoft 365 tools, especially Word, Excel, Project, Visio, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience:* Two (2) or more years of experience in software development.
•Two (2) or more years of experience in using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
•Graduate degree in Information Science, Engineering, or a similar discipline preferred.
•Hands-on experience with cloud-based SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS solutions.
•Experience in the energy and utilities industry.
•Experienced and knowledgeable in business processes such as sales, accounting, and IT service management.
•Software contracts administration and project administration experience.
•Familiarity with SOX audit requirements and process flow analysis.
Required Licensure, Certification, Registration, or Designation:* Valid Hawaii Driver’s License.
Preferred Licensure, Certification, Registration, or Designation:* IT Information Library Version (ITIL) 3 or 4 certifications.
•Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
•PMP (Project Management Professional).
•The Open Group Architectural Framework (TOGAF) 9.x or 10.x certification.
