Instrumentation Technician (12-month Fixed-Term)

Alamos Gold’s Young-Davidson is a low-cost, long-life operation and one of Canada’s largest underground gold mines. It is located near the town of Matachewan centrally located between Timmins, Kirkland Lake, North Bay and Sudbury, Ontario. The 2020 completion of a highly automated, lower mine expansion has resulted in Young-Davidson increasing production and generating strong free cash flow. With a large Mineral Reserve base, it will serve as Alamos’ foundation for growth for many years to come. Reporting to the Supervisor, E&I, the successful candidate will be responsible for successfully performing field maintenance of instrumentation devices.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Installation, calibration, and maintenance of electronic process equipment;

- Installation and Programming of IP Video Equipment;

- Troubleshooting programming and technical issues;

- Installation and maintenance of automated valves and flow meters;

- Running cables and terminating field devices;

- Preventative maintenance on a wide variety of devices and mechanical equipment; and

- Other duties assigned by the Supervisor, E&I as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

- Completion of post-secondary education in instrumentation or equivalent experience;

- Experience in field maintenance of instrumentation devices, DCS or PLC’s;

- Previous experience in a gold milling environment would be an asset;

- Electrical experience would be an asset;

- Computer or network experience would be an asset;

- Strong safety focus; and

- Self-motivated ability to work alone and in a team environment.

Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off – 12 hour shifts
