Role summary

This role will be responsible for driving the technology, automation, and metering side of SandX and Super Loop. This will include helping develop automated control systems, locating, testing, and monitoring meters, and different methods of measuring gas and fluid flow data. This role is dynamic but essentially will encompass all layers of the SCADA environment, including instrumentation, controls, visualization, networking, and data. This role reports into operations and works closely with R&D, manufacturing, field managers and technicians, HSE, and customer representatives across multiple oil and gas basins.

Key responsibilities

- Design, configure, and maintain SCADA equipment architectures for optimal customer experience.

- Understand and work through data collection and transmission through Modbus and/or other communication protocols.

- Use PLC’s and associated instrumentation to actuate valves and control PID Loops to maintain operational flows, levels, and pressures.

- Develop customer alarm, alert, and event notifications to enhance the added value of the SCADA program.

- Program or work with programmers to write and troubleshoot PLC logic and RTU configurations to support gas separation, measure flowback fluid, and related sand management processes

- Lead the initiatives to develop, stand up, and maintain telemetry for well-site assets using cellular, radio, satellite, and wired networks, including modem and router configurations.

- Implement and manage alarm logic to reduce nuisance alarms while driving an informed, fast, and safe response.

- Build customer dashboards to display uptime metrics, job KPIs, and equipment information.

- Integrate SCADA data with customer systems and internal business tools through APIs or CSV exports.

- Manage vendor relationships and licensing for SCADA platforms, PLC hardware, radios, and telemetry providers.

- Provide hands-on field support for troubleshooting and upgrades with a focus on safety and Job Safety Analysis compliance.

- Train operators, field techs, and supervisors on SCADA use and basic troubleshooting

- Participate in an on-call rotation for critical alarms and support for flowback operations.

- Drive continuous improvement of reliability, data quality, and standardization across the fleet.

Qualifications

Required

- Two or more years of SCADA or industrial automation experience in oil and gas, water, or heavy industrial environments, or equivalent training

- Strong computer background with PLC experience and familiarity with one or more Level monitors, fluid controls, thermal mass gas flow meters, Coriolis meters, Mag meters, VX meters

- Experience building customer-facing dashboards and reports

- Strong safety mindset and field presence with the ability to work at active well sites

- Excellent communication and documentation habits with a service-minded orientation

- Valid driver's license, insurable MVR, and clean background

Preferred Or Desired

- Experience with fluid and well flowback measurement, sand management, flowback, gas separation, flare systems, or completions operations

- Working knowledge of communications and protocols such as RS485, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, Canbus etc.

- Familiarity with cloud data services such as Azure, AWS, or Snowflake for reporting and analytics

- Ability to read and produce P&IDs, electrical drawings, control narratives, and network diagrams

- Electrical Engineer or Experience

- Project Manager with experience in getting to the finish line.

- Scripting and data skills using SQL and at least one of the following: Python, PowerShell, or similar

- Practical networking skills, IP addressing, routing, firewalls, VPN, cellular, and radio telemetry

Work environment and physical requirements

- Field and shop work around heavy equipment and process piping alongside office work

- Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, and work outdoors in varied weather while wearing required PPE

- Frequent travel to field yards and customer locations. Typical travel can range from 15 percent to 60 percent, depending on project load
