We are seeking a skilled Industrial Painter with experience in surface preparation and coating application for large industrial equipment, specifically dredges and marine machinery. The Industrial Painter will be responsible for ensuring all painted surfaces meet quality, durability, and safety standards in compliance with project specifications and industry requirements.
- Prepare surfaces of dredges and components for painting, including cleaning, sanding, grinding, and masking as required.
- Mix, match, and apply various types of industrial coatings such as epoxy, polyurethane, and zinc primers according to manufacturer specifications.
- Use airless spray equipment, brushes, and rollers to apply paint and protective coatings to large steel structures.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards, thickness tolerances (DFT), and project specifications.
- Perform visual inspections and measure coating thickness using appropriate tools.
- Operate forklifts, man lifts, and other equipment safely while accessing and coating large structures.
- Maintain a clean and organized painting area and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Follow all OSHA, environmental, and safety regulations, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with production and fabrication teams to coordinate painting schedules and deadlines.
- Document work completed and report any issues or defects in surface preparation or coating.- 2+ years of experience in industrial painting, preferably in marine, dredging, or heavy equipment industries.
- Knowledge of surface preparation methods, coating systems, and application techniques.
- Ability to read technical drawings, paint specifications, and work orders.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in confined spaces or at heights.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
- Forklift and aerial lift certifications are an advantage.
- Experience painting dredges, barges, or other marine vessels.
- Familiarity with corrosion-resistant coating systems used in harsh marine environments.
- Understanding of environmental containment procedures for spray painting operations.
