Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the HR department's daily operations, ensuring that all human resources functions align with the organization's goals and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a comprehensive understanding of HR practices and systems.
Responsibilities
•Provides Human Resources support and day-to-day direction in all aspects of Human Resources
•Manages the payroll process through Microsoft GP and performs the required quarterly tax filings for proper payroll reporting
•Manages the benefit programs
•Interfaces with employees, government agencies, and educational institutions
•Maintains basic knowledge of regulatory and labor laws
•Maintains ongoing knowledge of changes in filing requirements and changes in health insurance guidelines
•Manages recruiting and ensures that best practices are used to recruit and retain personnel
•Interfaces with all benefit vendors and works with them to ensure proper reporting requirements and work as liaison between vendors and employees when necessary
•Develops and manages new hire onboarding processes
•Serves as the designated expert on the interpretation of Human Resources policy issues for Operations
•Provides Sea Service Letters for Mariners to apply for and renew integral Coast Guard licenses
•Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
•Degree in Human Resources preferred, or a related field; or equivalent experience is required
•At least five years of Human Resources experience
•At least five years of interaction experience with Senior Management
•At least five years of experience in payroll and benefits
•Negotiating and conflict management skills
•Must be able to work well with others as a team; Ability to minimize unnecessary conflict by finding common ground and the best solution for all involved
•Strong analytical skills to find the best practice for the Organization to ensure big picture thought processes
•Knowledge of regulations and labor law
•Demonstrated ability of excellent oral and written communication is required
•Strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively influence individuals of varying backgrounds and learning styles
•Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite; Microsoft GP experience is preferred
