Reporting to the Director, HR Operations the Human Resource Business Partner will be responsible for collaborating with leaders, and team members at several unique operating companies to support and execute initiatives that enable Emera’s people and business strategy. The Human Resource Business Partner will act as a trusted advisor to the business, an employee champion and change agent, continuously assessing the environment and anticipating HR related needs.
More specifically, the Human Resource Business Partner will:
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, by providing sound advice and aligning HR initiatives with business objectives.
- Analyze trends and metrics and engage centres of excellence to deliver solutions, programs and policies to enhance performance and business success.
- Drive efficiencies by proactively supporting people and organizational challenges, and change initiatives.
- Exhibit a customer-centric mindset and proactively seek opportunities to connect and support stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops or training sessions aligning with company and business department goals.
- Coach, challenge, and support leaders at all levels to enhance their effectiveness.
- Offer interpretation and guidance on HR policies, legislation, development, and performance management.
- Assist with employee inquiries and conduct investigations as needed.
- Lead the planning, delivery, and facilitation of key initiatives.
Skills, Capabilities, Education and Experience:
As the ideal candidate you recognize yourself in many of the following competencies, and possess or are working towards the desired skills and experience listed below:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Human Resources Management, or other related fields. CPHR certification would be an asset.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a HR generalist or specialist role, with experience working with senior leadership in corporate and operational environments.
- Demonstrated experience across the spectrum of Human Resources (employee relations, development, succession, workforce planning, performance management, compensation and benefits) as well as experience working on HR projects and initiatives.
- Demonstrated knowledge in change management practices.
- Experience and education in conducting workplace investigations.
- Experience utilizing and supporting a HRIS.
- Able to facilitate training, meetings or workshops as required.
- Strong ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership presence and ability to manage stakeholder relations.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, focusing on collaboration and ‘win-win’ outcomes.
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential issues.
