Grupo Mexico is a transnational mining company with operations in the U.S., Mexico, and Peru. ASARCO (American Smelting and Refining Company) is the U.S.-based subsidiary of Grupo Mexico, specializing in copper mining, smelting, and refining. With approximately 1,700 employees, ASARCO operates three mines, associated mills, and a smelter in Arizona, as well as a refinery complex in Texas that produces copper cathode and rod.
This is a full-time on-site role for a Human Resources Business Partner. The position is an On-Site schedule with 4 days in the office and a possible 1 day work from home and is based in Kearny, AZ. Day-to-day tasks include developing and implementing HR policies, managing employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor and employment laws, and overseeing performance management processes to support and enhance employee performance. Performs essential HR functions, including staffing, payroll support, leave management, benefits administration, investigations, compliance, and employee relations. Responsible for maintaining employee records. The HR Business Partner is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to the site.
- Talent acquisition, including extending job offers, coordinating physicals and MSHA for all new hires
- Enter employee personnel data, including benefits data, I-9 and tax information
- Enter payroll data.
- Track leave and engaging in interactive dialogue with employees.
- Mediate conflicts and resolve workplace issues.
- Conduct and complete investigations.
- Respond to human-resource related questions.
- Maintain current knowledge of human resource-related laws.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain employee records and documentation to meet legal requirements.
- Assist in new employee on-boarding and orientation.
- Maintain employee personnel records.
- Address employee inquiries and concerns
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Assist employees with benefit-related inquiries and issues.
- Develop, update, and communicate HR Policies and procedures. Ensure consistent application of policies across the organization.
- Providing data sheets on all employee changes and movement.
- Support performance appraisal process and assist in setting performance goals and tracking progress.
- Facilitate training sessions as needed.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Implement and participate in employee engagement initiatives.
- Gather feedback to improve workplace satisfaction.
- Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles.

- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field and 4 years professional human resources experience or 7 years professional HR experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- The job requires training or instruction in the area of environmental Awareness.
- This job requires training or instruction in the area of Safety & Health awareness including completion of the appropriate OSHA and/or MSHA training.
