Western Energy is hiring a HSE Advisor/Superintendent to join our team in our Blackfalds location!
Western Energy Services Corp. (Corporate) is an oilfield service company which provides contract drilling services through Horizon Drilling in Canada and Stoneham Drilling Corporation in the United States. In addition, Western provides well servicing through Eagle Well Servicing in Canada, and provides rental services through Aero Rental Services in Canada.

Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety and Environment, the HSE Advisor/Superintendent
will
be a key field-based partner working with both our drilling and well servicing teams to ensure our operations meet the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance. This is a boots-on-the-ground role where your ability to lead by example, coach crews, and act decisively, will directly impact our success. - Serve as a field-facing HSE leader, ensuring full alignment with corporate and regulatory HSE standards.
- Build trust with field leadership, crews, and client HSE teams through consistent presence, communication, and follow-through.
- Conduct field inspections, audits, and incident investigations with a focus on learning, prevention, and continuous improvement.
- Coach, train, and mentor frontline employees and supervisors on safe work practices and hazard recognition.
- Partner with Operations to develop and implement practical, field-ready safety programs that support daily execution.
- Provide real-time HSE support during critical activities (e.g., start-ups, high-risk operations, incidents).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to track, report, and act on key HSE performance indicators.
- Participate in client meetings, site walks, and safety stand-downs as a representative of our commitment to excellence.
- Promote a culture of ownership and personal responsibility at every level of field operations.- 1+ years of experience in HSE roles within oilfield services, drilling, completions, or related heavy industrial sectors.
- The ability to engage and influence personnel at all levels—from Floorhand to Superintendent.
- Solid understanding safety analysis such as FHA and JSA (JSA) and risk assessment best practices.
- Strong communication skills.
- H2S, First Aid/CPR, or other industry certifications preferred.
- Ability to travel and work in field locations and participate in an on-calls schedule at required.
