The HR Operations & Compliance Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of Human Resources operations across the organization. This position is responsible for supporting core HR processes—including employee data management and reporting—while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with a strong focus on multi-state requirements.
This role partners closely with Permitting and People Operations to reduce compliance risk, improve operational efficiency, and support a positive employee experience.
- Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS and ensure data integrity across systems
- Prepare and maintain HR reports and dashboards related to headcount, turnover, audits, and compliance metrics
- Assist with process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives within HR Operations
- Assist with HR related projects
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including multi-state wage and hour, payroll tax, and employment regulations
- Monitor changes in employment laws and regulations and assess operational impact
- Support audits related to payroll, benefits, employment taxes, and HR compliance
- Maintain compliance documentation, policies, and procedures
- Assist in responding to government inquiries, audits, and notices related to employment or payroll compliance
- Partner with Permitting to file and set up state taxes and ensure compliance.
- Support Permitting and People teams in employment compliance initiatives and risk mitigation
- Serve as a subject matter resource for HR compliance questions from internal stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2–4 years of experience in HR operations, HR compliance, payroll, or related roles
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and HR compliance requirements
- Experience supporting multi-state workforces
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive and confidential information
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with payroll tax compliance and state/local tax regulations
- HRIS administration experience (e.g., Workday, ADP, UKG, Paylocity, or similar)
- Prior experience supporting audits or regulatory reviews
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) a plus
