The Human Resources Manager at inExhaust is a key member of the leadership team, serving as both a strategic advisor and tactical executor of all HR functions. This individual is the anchor of people operations and company culture, trusted to lead with clarity, fairness, and expertise. This position will act as a proxy for the owners in their absence. This role combines executive-level strategic vision with hands-on HR delivery and is responsible for building, scaling, and optimizing HR infrastructure to support business growth, employee accountability, and compliance.
The HR Manager will lead the HR department, supervising the HR Assistant and Administrative Assistant. They will drive organizational development, resolve complex employee relations matters, and implement cost-conscious strategies to meet inExhaust’s operational goals while fostering a high-performance culture. This individual must be decisive, proactive, and capable of leading through ambiguity in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Act as a strategic partner and right hand to the Owners on all matters involving people, compliance, operations alignment, and culture; serve as the leadership presence in their absence.
· Provide both strategic counsel and hands-on execution across all HR functions to drive initiatives that improve performance, reduce risk, and support sustainable growth.
· Serve as a coach and advisor to department managers and supervisors, support performance management, resolve personnel issues, developing policies and procedures and aligning workforce strategies with business goals.
· Lead, facilitate and manage Labor and Safety meetings.
· Facilitate learning events and knowledge transfer by teaching and team coaching to ensure that safety, policies, and procedures are being followed and upheld.
· Communicates workforce planning strategies, progress, and outcomes to executive leadership and key stakeholders
· Conduct training utilizing a variety of delivery methods and techniques, and customizes learning programs, courses, presentations and guides
· Emphasize safety precautions to be taken in all training provided
· Lead and develop the HR team, including the HR Assistant and Administrative Assistant, by setting expectations, mentoring their growth, and ensuring effective execution of responsibilities.
· Take full ownership of HR policy and procedure development, handbook creation, and disciplinary procedures: researching, drafting, implementing, training and continuously updating in collaboration with leadership and legal counsel to ensure consistency and compliance.
· Oversee talent acquisition strategy and workforce planning, while the HR Assistant owns day-to-day recruitment activities; guide onboarding, retention, and succession planning efforts to build a strong talent pipeline.
· Establish and manage compensation benchmarks, job classification structures, and performance evaluation systems that align with organizational goals and budget constraints.
· Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local employment regulations, including FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, ADA, EEOC, and ISO standards.
· Collaborate closely with the accounting department and leadership to implement cost-effective benefit programs and HR initiatives that reflect fiscal responsibility and business priorities.
· Conduct and oversee complex employee relations investigations with sound judgment, ensuring documentation and appropriate resolution in accordance with policy and law.
· Leverage HR metrics, data trends, and behavioral insights to assess turnover, engagement, and culture; identify root causes and implement meaningful improvements.
· Serve as the primary liaison to legal counsel, insurance brokers, drug/background screening vendors, and other external HR service providers.
· Manage and own the HRIS system/implementation (e.g., BambooHR) for all HR functions, partnering with the Accounting Manager for payroll-related components; ensure data integrity and utilization for reporting and compliance.
· Coordinate and align HR-related ISO documentation and continuous improvement practices with the company’s quality and operational standards.
· Lead culture-building and accountability initiatives that promote respect, communication, and performance across all levels of the organization.
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be highly competent across all key areas of HR, able to operate autonomously, and capable of influencing outcomes at the leadership level.
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required
· Minimum 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a senior HR leadership role
· Proven experience in manufacturing or industrial environments strongly preferred
· Experience managing and developing HR teams required
· Strong executive presence with exceptional emotional intelligence
· Ability to “own the room,” command respect, and communicate with tact and authority
· Deep knowledge of HR strategy, compliance, employment law, and operational HR practices
· Adept at navigating complex employee situations and making sound judgment calls
· Confident in handling investigations, conflict resolution, and sensitive conversations
· Comfortable with ambiguity; able to bring structure and clarity where none exists
· Strong analytical skills and ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (preferably BambooHR)
· Knowledge of ISO and integration with HR policies is a plus
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-priority projects with competing deadlines
