About the position:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Representative to join the team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the Oil and Gas industry, particularly with Midstream and Gas Processing facilities. The Health and Safety Representative will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive safety programs to ensure a safe working environment across all work sites. The candidate must hold relevant OSHA qualifications and be passionate about promoting a culture of safety.
Responsibilities:
•Lead the creation, develop, implement, and manage continuos improvement of health and safety programs tailored for the Oil and Gas Industry. (Midstream/ Gas Processing)
•Conduct regular site inspections of all operations sites, to identify potential hazards and ensure strict compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
•Provide guidance and training to employees, subcontractors, and site personnel on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and more.
•Lead investigations into all accidents, incidents, and near-misses, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
•Collaborate with managers, supervisors, and other stakeholders to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution.
•Ensure all work sites comply with OSHA standards and other relevant regulations, and maintain up-to-date safety documentation.
•Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other initiatives to continuously promote a safety-first culture across the organization.
•Oversee and evaluate the safety performance of subcontractors, ensuring alignment with company safety standards and regulatory obligations.
•Stay current with industry trends, new regulations, and best practices in Oil and Gas safety to continuously improve the company’s safety programs.
•Prepare and present safety reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics, trends, and areas for improvement.
•Preparation and review of procedures, work instructions, manuals, programs and other documents relevant to Health and Safety.
•Issue, guide and train work and operation teams in issuing work authorizations and releasing areas, controlling and monitoring records in accordance with current legislation and company procedures.
•Train and control emergency preparedness in compliance with standards and regulations such as OSHA.
•Training volunteer firefighters, as well as testing and monitoring emergency equipment in the field.
•Manage the preparation, organization, and archiving of all safety-related technical and administrative documents, both physical and digital, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
•Organize and keep documents organized, complete controls, spreadsheets, monitor deadlines, type texts of procedures, technical instructions, manuals, meeting minutes, schedules and other documents necessary for the company's operation, to ensure compliance with legislation.
•Participate in meetings, write and record meeting minutes, collect signatures, deliver and receive documents from the company's sectors, seek technical information in the field or administrative whenever requested by the sector manager.
•Guide operational teams in issuing work authorizations, conducting area releases, and managing safety records, in accordance with legislative and company policies.
Qualifications:
•Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Health and Safety Representative in the Oil and Gas industry (Midstream)
•Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards, supported by relevant OSHA certifications required.
•Proven ability to develop and implement effective safety programs in a Midstream / Gas Plant environment.
•Experience in training emergency response teams.
•Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage all levels of the organization, from field workers to senior management.
•Ability to conduct detailed hazard assessments, analyze safety data, and recommend data-driven solutions.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and hands-on approach.
•Familiarity with safety management software and tools is a plus.
•Passion for promoting a safe working environment and preventing accidents.
