The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Representative provides technical office and field support on safety, health and environmental compliance requirements at utility transmission facilities, rights of way and to a lesser extent generation facilities. This position assists the transmission EHS Team in the implementation of project environmental compliance, safety, occupational health and fire protection by ensuring compliance to laws, regulations and NYPA Policies through field observations, incident investigations, development of EHS communications, contractor submittal review and policy and procedure review. Applicants should have a background in utility work, and/or experience working in construction, industrial settings or EHS Consulting, with a focus on environmental program oversight including but not limited to SPCC, PBS, RCRA and HAZMAT Transportation (DOT).
This position will be located in either the White Plains Office or Astoria with travel throughout Southeastern New York, including NYC and LI.
Up to 20% travel primarily within NY State. Physical ability to access Authority facilities is necessary on a routine basis. Ability to enter confined spaces and areas with limited access. Ability to work from height and travel distances as well as stairs by foot. Ability to stand long periods of time in all types of weather; exposure to heat, cold, noise, wind and general nuisance air conditions. Valid Drivers license
Must be able to work in cold/hot environments.
