The General Manager directs and oversees all assigned terminal operations in a safe, efficient and productive manner and takes all necessary steps to ensure that the terminals remain profitable and operational to the company's standards. Establishes and maintains a positive and progressive work environment that motivates each employee to deliver a high level of service, paying attention to details and meeting the highest standard of customer service. This is a fast-paced position that requires a high level of teamwork and communication. The General Manager must have solid leadership abilities and be willing to work overtime when necessary and respond to emergencies while providing excellent professional service to all internal and external customers. Employs effective verbal and written communication skills and can lead, supervise and direct the activities of others. Possesses excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Responsible for the oversight of operations at assigned terminals.
- Assists terminal managers and other corporate management and staff to ensure operational goals and standards are met daily.
- Works directly with terminal managers at developing capital budgets and maintenance related tasks and schedules.
- Manage tasks from start to finish including project development, budgeting, permitting, and direct oversite till completion.
- A working knowledge of all current regulations pertaining to tank farm operations as well as occupational safety, and DOT is critical.
- Ensure compliance with employee handbook, assist in hiring key terminal staff, and assist in disciplinary action when needed. Responsible for reviewing employee performance reviews and wage adjustments given by terminal managers.
- Responsible for giving annual performance reviews to terminal managers and suggesting salary adjustments to upper management.
- Make sure staff levels are maintained to an appropriate level while minimizing excessive overtime. Ensures correct personnel records and endorsements are kept current.
- Works with both bulk inventory and package inventory staff and reviews and approves monthly variances for assigned terminals.
- Ensure all procedures are followed, periodically conduct audits to verify correct procedures are being followed.
- Works with terminal managers and logistics team to set bulk fuel and package inventory levels as seasonal and operational conditions change.
- Responsible for maintaining a positive working relationship with the marketing team.
- Supplies the marketing team with feedback on prospective customers or issues that might arise that would be of value.
- Follows up on any issues or concerns of an operational nature communicated to you.
- Ensures customer expectations are met or exceeded at the operational level. Responsible for resolving customer issues or concerns and verify that products are delivered spill free, on time, and invoiced accurately. Addresses any concern with a proactive time sensitive approach.
- Help establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with our suppliers.
- Works closely with all levels of the corporate administrative department to ensure financial performance of terminals regarding inventory control, labor costs, and other variable expenses under your direct control or oversight. Stay abreast of accounts receivable issues and strictly enforce accounting controls on cash, deposits, truck tickets, and invoices.
- Works closely with IT department including development of system upgrades and relaying operational issues or concerns as they relate to the IT department.
- The appearance of equipment, terminals, and employees is expected to be clean organized and project a high level of confidence to our customers.
- Establish and maintain clear communication between all employees and establish an environment which is conflict-free with an emphasis on respect for others. A cooperative attitude with co-workers is essential.
- This position requires routine travel to facilities throughout Alaska and Yukon Territory Canada. Perform a variety of terminal and job-related duties as needed or assigned.

- Licensure/Certification: Must have a current driver license, Passport, and be able to obtain a TWIC card within 60 days of hire.
- Other Qualifications: Must have excellent leadership skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others and communicate in writing and verbally with others. Must be able to present themselves as an example of Petro 49's quality and professionalism.
- Attendance: Regular attendance is a requirement; this position regularly requires more than 40 hours a week. This position is an exempt salary position.
