Position Overview:

The Mighty Argo Cable Car (MACC) visitor prefer guest experience in Idaho Springs is a state-of-the-art cable car system that connects visitors to Colorado’s rich mining history, scenic mountain trailheads at Virginia Canyon Mountain Park, and breathtaking, panoramic views of the Colorado Rockies from Miner’s Point - a vibrant recreational complex featuring dining, an amphitheater, and year-round events and activities for all ages.

The Mighty Argo Cable Car seeks an experienced and dynamic General Manager (GM) to lead all day-to-day operations, ensuring operational excellence, strong financial performance, and an exceptional visitor experience. This year-round leadership role will manage all aspects of the MACC program and will supervise a dynamic team of department heads to align performance across all functions. The GM plays a key role in fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement while driving sustainable growth and upholding the highest operational standards. This role will also require exceptional leadership traits to build up the management team and to create an entrepreneurial culture for the company.


Key Responsibilities:


Leadership & Strategic Oversight

- Supervise and empower the management team to facilitate operations across all MACC functions, including lift operations, facilities, food and beverage service, retail, guest services, and all other program elements.

- Collaborate with third-party vendors and the executive team, providing onsite accounting, IT, HR, sales, marketing, events, and POS systems—including the electronic ticketing platform—to optimize pricing strategies, yield management, guest flow, capacity utilization, and revenue generation.

- Implement organizational goals and strategies established by the Board of Directors (BoD) and executive leadership team.

- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to revenue, safety, guest satisfaction, and employee engagement.

- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement across all departments.

- Develop and enforce operational policies, emergency procedures, and risk management protocols.


Financial Management & Business Operations

- Lead and manage the implementation of the annual operating budget and financial plans to ensure the organization’s financial health.

- Analyze financial performance to identify trends and implement data-driven strategies to maximize profitability and achieve financial goals.

- Collaborate with executive leadership to set financial targets, forecast revenue, and guide capital investment planning.

- Maintain effective financial systems, ensure timely reporting, and uphold internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.

- Oversee capital projects, maintenance programs, and asset lifecycle planning to ensure long-term infrastructure integrity and value creation.


Safety & Compliance

Build up the management team with experts in the field of cable-car technology to accomplish the following:

- Ensure compliance with Colorado Passenger Tramway Safety Board regulations and lead the development and management of safety programs and training.

- Oversee lift and facility maintenance operations, inspections, and daily readiness to ensure safe, clean, and reliable environments with minimal downtime.

- Establish and direct emergency response procedures, including incident management and reporting.

- Foster a culture of safety awareness, compliance, and accountability across all departments.

- Collaborate with maintenance and risk management teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards.


Organizational Development

- Implement performance management systems, coaching, and professional development initiatives.

- Foster a culture of inclusion, engagement, and recognition.

- Recruit, hire, and develop department managers and seasonal staff, emphasizing leadership development and cross-functional collaboration.

- Enforce organizational policies and procedures in line with MACC’s values.

- Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards. Promote sustainable practices in line with the company's environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles.

- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across departments to drive accountability, transparency, and operational improvements.

- Develop and maintain business continuity plans, including crisis response protocols and weather-related contingency planning.

- Promote succession planning and internal talent pipelines to support long-term growth.


Technology & Systems

- Oversee the maintenance, enhancement, and integration of ticketing, reservation, communication, and operational technology systems.

- Identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities for continuous technological innovation and process optimization.


Guest Experience and Community Engagement

- Partners with key Board Representatives to engage as a professional representative with community, government, and tourism partners.

- Ensure every guest experience reflects the highest standards of hospitality and safety by actively monitoring feedback and implementing continuous improvements that enhance the visitor journey.

- Collaborate with marketing and tourism partners to promote the MACC as a premier Colorado mountain attraction.

- Serve as a professional representative for MACC with community, government, and tourism partners, and at industry events and local forums.

- Build and maintain strong vendor, partner, and stakeholder relationships.

- Maintain a positive public presence through ongoing social and community engagement.

- Collaborate and integrate with Mill /tour operations for a seamless, positive guest experience.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent education and experience.

- 7+ years of progressive management experience in tourism, attractions, hospitality, or related industries. - Proven ability to manage 40+ employees successfully.

- Demonstrated team leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict.

- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

- Strong financial management and operational planning skills.

- Exceptional communication and public engagement skills.

- Ability to thrive in dynamic environments and adapt to change.


Compensation & Growth Opportunity

- Salary Range: $130,000–$150,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

- Eligible for annual performance-based bonus tied to operational and financial goals.

- Full-time, exempt position.

- Ability to advance and grow professionally to an executive position in the organization
