Summary

Directs the work of Line Apprentices and Journeyman Lineman during training. Instructs on the performance of skilled work at the journeyman level in the construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution electrical facilities owned and/or operated by the company, including the Line Apprenticeship Training yard. Committed to achieving high customer satisfaction by working with fellow employees in a safe and effective manner, teaching safe practices and conducting pre-job or tailboard safety meetings. Practices and enforces good housekeeping on assigned equipment and at training or job sites.

What You'll Do

- Build and evolve the Line Apprentice training curriculum to meet company and industry needs. This includes both facilitating and instructing the Line apprentices and Journeyman level training classes.

- Participate in the Line Apprenticeship selection process as an evaluator.

- Prepare, participate and document evaluations of apprentices for required reviews.

- Responsible for personnel safety, instruction, and enforcement of safety rules and procedures. Ensure safe operation of equipment and conduct job site safety audits.

- Direct, instruct, and participate in all phases of work performed including but not limited to the following:

- Installation, construction and maintenance of the distribution and transmission overhead and underground systems, including transformers, cables, ducts and all other related equipment, apparatus and apprentice training. This includes pole change outs for the Apprentice training yard.

- Ensure proper handling and disposal of chemicals, hazardous waste, and PCB according to rules and regulations. Must be familiar with Material Safety Data sheets (MSDS).

- Operate and direct the operation of trucks, hoists, and related equipment faulty equipment and D.O.T. inspection reports.

- Responsible for all work being performed in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Test and approve work performed.

- Assist other employees doing related work during vacations, sick leave or, as workloads vary and are adjusted by Supervisory personnel.

- May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime.

- Employees may need to attend additional training to meet state requirements for continuous education.

- Some travel may be required.

- Other duties as assigned.

What It Takes To Succeed

- Must work safely and efficiently in the performance of job duties.

- Must maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers and the public.

- Must possess strong communication skills and presentation skills.

- NTI graduate preferred.

- Hot Stick experience in live line work.

- 10 years of lineman experience or equivalent preferred.

Experience

Successful completion of a Lineman Apprenticeship program or equivalent. Minimum 3 years of Lineman experience (with 6 months at SRP) or equivalent experience.

Education

Completion of an appropriate Apprenticeship program or equivalent.

Testing and Certifications

Must possess a valid Class 'A' Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
