Under the general direction of the Senior Fleet Technician(s) or Maintenance Supervisor, will provide technical support beyond the
Fleet Technician I level in the delivery of services associated with maintaining & ensuring regulatory compliance of a Utility Fleet,
ensuring the highest degree of safety. A primary requirement of this position will have the successful candidate performing routine
regulatory inspections of utility equipment at plants across Northern Manitoba, requiring regular travel and extended stays outside
the Headquarter zone.
- Will be required to plan & perform preventative, NDT, regulatory based maintenance inspections and subsequent repairs on
Fleet equipment based on applicable standards, strict deadlines and user requirements.
- Create, share, and maintain detailed electronic files on all regulatory / non regulatory inspection and repair activity.
- Service, maintain, repair, overhaul, and outfit corporate fleet units, including all associated systems and components, in shop
- Liaise with suppliers and vendor technicians, providing clear expectations on MH safety standards are met, achieving best
- Operate fleet units with proficiency, to manufacturer's specifications. Measuring functional performance, ensuring all safety
criteria are met. Ability to recognize opportunities in safety, performance or design which could be improved.
- Perform quality assurance inspections, providing clear and concise documentation of defects or non-compliance.
- Adhere to Manitoba Hydro safety, housekeeping, and best trade practices in all environments - always.
- Perform general welding as required.
- Required to assist with the training of apprentices (trainees), operators or other personnel on any aspect of Fleet operation
- Will be required to operate a service vehicle year-round in typical Manitoba weather conditions. Maintaining DOT / HOS
electronic log for all trip activity. May be required to operate a tow truck with proficiency.
- Grade 12 or GED equivalent. IP Red Seal certification in either discipline; Truck & Transport Mechanic, Heavy Duty
Equipment Technician, Agriculture Equipment Technician and 1 year of experience as a Fleet Technician I, or equivalent.
- Possess or eligible to obtain a Manitoba Vehicle Standards Inspection Certificate for trucks/truck-tractors and trailers
- Demonstrated ability to plan & coordinate work activities, remaining focused, while often faced with changing priorities.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the operation, maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and overhaul of all Utility Fleet equipment.
- Ability to communicate to an audience with varying levels of understanding. Tailoring discussions to effectively get your point
- Good interpersonal skills to be able to deal effectively with people and understand the requirements needed to work within a

- Willingness to attend additional training and courses to keep current with changing technology.
- Willing to obtain operating permits for designated corporate fleet equipment including a forklift.
- Fully familiar with Manitoba Hydro / Industry best safety and housekeeping practices.
- Possess a full set of personal hand tools as required under Manitoba Hydro Policy.
- Physically capable of performing all duties of the position.
- Possess a valid Manitoba Driver's Licence minimum Class 3 A. May also be required to obtain a Class 1 A.
- Clear drivers abstract.
- Required to obtain certification as a Utility Fleet Mechanic as defined in the UFM Learning Guide as a Manitoba Hydro training
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $36.39-$53.26 Hourly,
$69,725.50-$102,064.04 Annually.
