Job Description
The staff accountant is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support the company’s financial operations. This role ensures accurate and timely recording of transactions, reconciliations. The staff accountant works closely with team members across Commercial and other departments to maintain the integrity of financial data.
- Prepare and review general ledger account reconciliations.
- Assist with month, quarter and year-end close processes.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing supporting documentation and schedules.
- Analyze, prepare and review transactions for compliance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and OceanaGold accounting policies, procedures, internal control standards.
- Contribute ideas and actions towards the continuous improvement of processes that have a Commercial impact.
- Prepare financial analyses for Senior Management.
- Contributes to positive team culture.
- Analyse financial data for variances and provide explanations.
- Perform special projects and ad-hoc analysis as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant Certificate, or equivalent
- Certifications 3-5 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, business processes and control environment requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
