In partnership with Metrolinx, ACCIONA is playing a key role in the design and construction of the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE), a 9.2-kilometre westward addition to Toronto’s Line 5 light rail transit network. This major infrastructure project includes seven new stations and installation of rail and systems under a progressive design-build model.
Beyond its technical scope, the ECWE project represents a significant investment in sustainable urban mobility, expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 5,800 tonnes annually and eliminate over 6.5 million vehicle trips each year when combined with the full Line 5.

As a key member of the project’s Finance and Commercial team, the Project Accountant will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project-level financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, reporting, and compliance. This position will work closely with internal departments such as Construction, Procurement, and Project Controls, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure financial data is accurate, timely, and aligned with both project and corporate objectives.
The Accountant is critical to ensuring the accurate financial management of one of Toronto’s most complex and high-profile infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and maintain detailed project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
• Monitor project costs, expenses, and revenues, ensuring alignment with contractual and budgetary requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers and the Commercial team to track project financial performance and proactively identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.

• Review, reconcile, and manage project-related accounts including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and general ledger (GL) entries.
• Process subcontractor payments, change orders, and client invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensure accurate cost coding of all project-related transactions and assist with the monthly close and reporting cycle.

• Conduct variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and cash flow forecasting to support project decision-making.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and project performance summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
• Support the preparation of financial inputs for project proposals, change orders, and contract negotiations.

• Perform regular financial reviews and internal audits to ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and relevant regulations.
• Assist with coordination and documentation for external audits, tax filings, and regulatory submissions.
• Maintain awareness of changes in accounting standards and best practices related to project-based accounting and infrastructure delivery models.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5-7+ years of professional accounting experience, in project based or a construction environment a strong asset
• Solid understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with technical, commercial, and operational teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a dynamic, high-volume environment.
