Field Technician

Part-Time | Seasonal (March–December) | $20/hour

Advanced Environmental is a small, professional firm specializing in soil testing and septic

system design based in Prescott, Wisconsin. We are seeking a reliable, physically capable

Field Technician to assist with soil testing and site evaluation work across western

Wisconsin. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys operating equipment, working

outdoors, and prefers a consistent part-time schedule. It is particularly well suited for

retired tradespeople, farmers, or equipment operators looking for steady seasonal work.

You will work directly alongside the owner and lead soil tester, assisting with equipment

operation and job site setup.

Job Details

Job Type: Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: $20/hour

Schedule: Typically Tuesday–Thursday

Location: Prescott, WI

Season: March–December (weather dependent)

What You'll Do

Drive a 3/4-ton pickup truck and 22-ft equipment trailer to job sites (3–4 sites per day)

Operate a compact tractor-backhoe (Kubota B26) to excavate soil test holes

Backfill holes and restore job sites after testing

Load and unload equipment and tools

Perform daily equipment checks and basic maintenance

Keep truck, trailer, and equipment organized and clean

What You Won’t Be Responsible For

Soil analysis or technical evaluation

Client meetings or customer interaction

Engineering or design work

Office paperwork or administrative tasks

Schedule & Work Environment

Typical workdays: Tuesday–Thursday (occasionally Monday or Friday due to weather)

Typical day: 7:00 AM – ~5:30 PM depending on travel distance

Outdoor work in varying weather conditions

Rural and residential job sites across western Wisconsin

Pay & Hours

$20/hour

Portal-to-portal pay (from leaving the shop until returning)

Typically 25–30 hours per week during the season

Seasonal part-time role (no benefits)

Requirements

Physically capable of manual outdoor work

Ability to work outdoors, walk uneven ground, and perform moderate physical labor

throughout the day

Comfortable operating equipment and driving a truck with trailer

Reliable transportation to the shop in Prescott, WI

Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions

Dependable and punctual

Preferred (not required)

Experience operating tractors, backhoes, or similar small construction equipment

Background in farming, landscaping, excavation, or similar fields
