Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Facilities Maintenance Specialist opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN.
The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility and building infrastructure in a large industrial environment. This role focuses on maintaining reliable operation of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical building systems to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, mechanical, and building support systems
- Troubleshoot and repair facility-related issues affecting building utilities and infrastructure
- Maintain and service HVAC systems including air handling units, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, exhaust systems, and environmental control equipment
- Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks and general mechanical repairs
- Respond to facility alarms, work orders, and urgent maintenance requests
- Complete maintenance activities and documentation
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors performing facility-related maintenance or repair work
- Support facility inspections, testing, and regulatory compliance activities
- Maintain compliance with safety policies, procedures, and applicable codes and standards
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to facility reliability and maintenance effectiveness
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training, trade school, or apprenticeship preferred
- 5+ years of experience in facility or building maintenance in an industrial, commercial, or institutional environment- Strong hands-on experience with HVAC, electrical, and mechanical building systems
- Working knowledge of electrical systems (low- and medium-voltage)
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- HVAC certification or EPA Universal certification
- Electrical license or formal electrical training
- Experience with large, complex facility infrastructure
- Ability to walk down facility systems and equipment
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work extended hours or respond to call-ins as needed
- Hands-on, detail-oriented maintenance approach
- Strong safety awareness
- Effective communication and coordination skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple maintenance tasks
- United States Citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance
