POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Manager oversees the daily maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of all BLS facilities, shops, offices, yards, and supporting infrastructure. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient operation of all buildings, equipment, utility systems, and grounds. The Facilities Maintenance Manager leads a small team of technicians and vendors, develops preventative maintenance plans, and coordinates all corrective work to support uninterrupted operations across BLS locations.

Requirements:

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prioritize, schedule, and oversee daily maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and emergency repairs.

- Develop and manage the preventative maintenance program for all buildings, yard assets, shop equipment, and facility systems.

- Monitor facility conditions and proactively identify maintenance needs.

- Oversee repairs, upgrades, and general upkeep of offices, shops, warehouses, lighting, access systems, and grounds.

- Maintain inventory of maintenance tools, parts, and materials; oversee procurement as needed.

- Coordinate snow removal, landscaping, waste management, and general groundskeeping.

- Conduct regular facility safety inspections and partner with Safety to resolve hazards.

- Maintain documentation of inspections, maintenance logs, and compliance records.

- Coordinate with leadership on long-range facilities planning and space utilization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

COMPETENCIES

- Strong working knowledge of facility systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, controls).

- Ability to diagnose equipment failures and develop correct repair strategies.

- Familiarity with heavy industrial/shop environments (fabrication, electrical, panel shop).

- Identifies opportunities to improve facilities, workflows, and energy efficiency.

- Proactively resolves issues before they impact operations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS

- High School Diploma or GED required.

- 5+ years of facility maintenance experience; industrial or construction-related environment preferred.

- Previous leadership experience in a production or shop environment preferred.

- Maintains high standards of workmanship and facility cleanliness.

- Ensures accurate documentation, preventative maintenance logs, and inspection records.

- Reliable, self-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to stand for extended periods while performing shop work.

- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed.

- Regular use of hand tools, power tools, and standard shop equipment
