Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced
Senior Machinist
to join our team. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in operating and setting up conventional and CNC machining centers such as Lathes, Vertical Turret Lathes (VTLs), Milling Machines, and Horizontal Boring Mills (HBMs). This is a hands-on role requiring a deep understanding of machining practices, blueprint interpretation, and lean manufacturing.
You will work from blueprints, sketches, planning sheets, and verbal instructions to produce high-precision parts. Your expertise will contribute to productivity, quality, and continuous improvement efforts across our shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
•Set up and operate manual and CNC machines including lathes, VTLs, HBMs, and milling machines
•Machine high-precision parts based on engineering drawings and specifications
•Perform machine adjustments and ensure proper cutting action
•Adjust feeds, speeds, and depths of cut to ensure part quality
•Use hand tools to deburr and finish complex parts
•Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, comparators, gauges, and magnification tools
•Make precision align bores
•Contribute to lean initiatives and suggest process improvements
•Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED required
•Minimum 15 years of relevant machining experience
•Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and machining processes
•Experience with machine setup, troubleshooting, and process optimization
•Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) techniques
•Ability to perform machine shop math, including trigonometry
•Must be a reliable team player able to work with limited supervision
Preferred Skills:
•Experience working with large and heavy components
•Background in aerospace, oil & gas, or heavy equipment manufacturing
•Lean manufacturing experience
