Summary
We are seeking a Manual Machinist to join our dynamic team within our Spearhead Industries division. In this role, you will be responsible for operating manual machining equipment to produce high-quality components for our pumping units. Your expertise will be vital in ensuring that we maintain our reputation for precision and reliability.
Responsibilities
•Sets up and operates special purpose equipment, conventional manual lathe and or manual mill, and similar machining equipment for fabrication of metallic and nonmetallic parts that hold to the high-quality machine standards required within the organization.
•Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements.
•Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.
•Stand or walk for a minimum of 3.5 hours and up to 12 hours without being able to sit and while wearing steel-toed boots.
•Occasionally climb steep stairs and be able to lift and carry 50 pounds independently up and down stairs.
•Lift and carry independently 50 pounds while walking on uneven surfaces
•Bend, stoop, kneel, twist and crawl throughout the work shift.
•Use a variety of hand and power tools to perform a range of mechanical oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handled and long handled tools.
•Clear vision to judge near and far distances to maintain awareness of watch and report ongoing work activities to coworkers and third parties.
•Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and machinery problems
•Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects
•Demonstrate clear communication skills and ability to promptly follow directions
•Stay alert and focused throughout work shift.
•Take initiative and work independently during downtime.
•Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times.
•Be on time for all company events, training, safety meetings, special assignments, and regular shifts.
•Keep and maintain a clean work environment, this includes all locations, work sites, company vehicles, and customer locations.
•Other duties as assigned
Requirements
•Proven experience as a manual machinist or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
•Strong knowledge of machining processes and techniques.
•Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
•Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
•Experience with hand tools and basic assembly techniques.
•Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
