Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) is a progressive member owned utility with a service area that spreads from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay. REC serves over 165,000 connections in portions of 22 Virginia counties.
The Executive Assistant provides organizational and administrative support to high-level executives, managing their calendars, communications, travel, and other tasks to allow the executive to focus on strategic priorities. The Executive Assistant acts as a liaison between the executive and others, both internally and externally, and often plays a role in project management and other strategic initiatives.
· Coordinate and maintain complex executive calendar, ensuring that appointments, meetings, and deadlines are efficiently scheduled and managed
· Lead and manage key projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with organizational goals. Collaborate with different teams and departments to track progress and provide updates
· Assist in project management activities and processes including project planning, intake, prioritization, initiation, execution, and training; as well as in fostering collaboration of end-users and key stakeholders
· Provide financial oversight and budget support by tracking expenses, preparing and submitting reports, managing invoices, and analyzing budget variances
· Draft and manage communication, including correspondence, internal memos, and other high-level communications ensuring messages are clear, consistent, and strategically aligned with organizational priorities
· Organize and prepare for meetings, including gathering documents, taking notes, preparing presentations, and attending to logistics of meetings
· Handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times
The candidate must possess High School diploma or GED required. Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field strongly preferred. Three to five years’ prior experience in supporting a high-level executive.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, along with strong time management and organizational abilities. Attention to detail is essential, as is the ability to work within a deadline-driven environment while managing multiple projects that require team coordination. Proficiency with commonly used software, programs, and applications—such as Microsoft Office—is required. Strong interpersonal skills are also essential, and the candidate must be willing to perform other duties as assigned.
This position is primarily based in an office environment, with occasional travel. A valid Virginia driver's license is required. Although the position generally operates from the office, there is some flexibility for a hybrid work schedule once a week. Forty-hour work week with some overtime required as needed. Occasional local and out-of-town travel is required for training, meetings, conferences, and other events. The candidate must adhere to and comply with the Cooperative’s safety rules, policies, and procedures.
