Position Title: Estimator - Structural & Miscellaneous Metals Fabrication
Business Unit: Structural Fabrication
Location: Poseyville, IN Rockport, IN
Reports To: Estimating Manager
As an Estimator, you will work directly with our customer base and members of our Business Development team to provide accurate proposals of customer designed projects by reading and understanding bid instructions, detailed specifications and construction/architect drawings and prepare a takeoff of necessary materials, labor, design, engineering, sub trades and equipment costs to deliver complete, accurate, timely and thorough bid proposals to customers. Projects are varied but include structural steel, miscellaneous. metals, light structural, and bid spec. work through a variety of industries including Heavy Industrial, Manufacturing, Commercial Construction, and Public Works.
Our ideal candidate will
•Read, understand, and interpret bid instructions, construction documents, blueprints, and detailed specifications for the preparation of estimates
•Prepare quantity takeoff and pricing for new projects and any change orders on existing contracts promptly
•Prepare takeoff of materials and estimate all necessary shop labor, buyout items, and equipment costs to prepare a thorough bid estimate
•Source and submit RFQs to steel erectors and other subcontractors as needed
•Review all vendor and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and to ensure all items are accounted for in the estimates
•Prepare and submit detailed, thorough, accurate, and timely proposals for customer projects.
•Develop and maintain customer and vendor relationships
•Effectively communicate with team members, customers, material suppliers, and subcontractors via phone, email, and face-to-face to produce accurate estimates.
•Perform all other duties as assigned and required
•Follow all company and common-sense safety policies while using all required personal protective equipment

Desired Qualifications
•Knowledge of steel components and properties
•Experience in structural, miscellaneous metal, light structural, or bid spec. fabrication required
•Prior estimating experience preferred, but not required if you possess extensive experience in the trade
•Ability to read design drawings required
•Organized with extreme attention to detail
•Working from the office located at the operations
•The ability to excel in a fast-paced, competitive environment
•Strong interpersonal skills, customer service skills, and the ability to maintain professionalism in the workplace
