We are seeking an Equipment Manager who will be responsible for the management and tracking of fleet allocation, rental procurement and release, utilization verification, hard asset inventory, and communicating findings to Senior Management.This position will be based at the Head office Fort McMurray. The position will require regular field/site visits for audits and inspections of the equipment status in the field. This position will report directly to the Senior Management.
Utilization of assets and maximization of up-time plays a most crucial role to the success of the business; it is understood that this position will hold these functions at the highest priority during all roles and responsibilities described below.
This position may be required to work outside of normal business hours. The preferred shift is Monday to Friday, local to the RMWB. Responsibilities:
- Always work with safety at the forefront of any work activity – safety is everyone’s responsibility at our Company.
- Coordinate, prioritize and schedule all rental equipment (HD and LDV) with vendors and Site Management.
- Obtain, keep and update knowledge of what assets are dispatched to various sites in efforts to eliminate redundancies on equipment moves and rental acquisitions.
- Track any equipment damages that are preventable and report to Senior Management to identify if investigations are deemed necessary.
- Create, keep and update a list of hard asset inventory (internal equipment tracker-based list), including but not limited to: - Heavy Equipment - Light Duty Vehicles - Attachments - Small Mobile Equipment (light plants, generators, etc.)
- Provide suggestions to Senior Management about ways to improve functionality of evolving software applications.
- Establish a firm understanding of repairs that are Rental Vendors responsibility vs. Company responsibility and make sure both Site Management and Maintenance Department are aware of such.
- Verify rental equipment is realizing optimal utilization each month by referencing the Rental Equipment tracker and ensuring its service meter unit (SMU) accuracy is correct.
- Ensure rental equipment that will experience down time due to project slow-down is either moved to another operation, taken off-rent until it is needed again, or returned to the vendor immediately.
- Ensure all units are added to insurance policy prior to performing work.
- Ensure all rental units are removed from insurance policy upon return and all owned units are removed when sold.
- Notify Senior Management when it is determined that an asset may be under utilized and may be candidate for sale.
- Ensure Site Management is reporting when equipment it under-utilized and perform site audits from time to-time to ensure accurate messaging is being conveyed.
- Post-secondary degree / diploma in a related field. (preferred)
- Proficient in the use of asset management and maintenance software’s.
- Experience with and willingness to learn evolving internal software applications.
- Extensive knowledge of Company fleet required.
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
- Experience with routine maintenance operations.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
