As we continuously grow, we are looking for an Heavy Equipment Operator to join our passionate team.
As an Operator, you'll lead the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment daily, navigating materials across job sites while ensuring site setup, safety compliance, and daily equipment maintenance. Expertise in the Matting/Access industry and grasp of Environmental, Civil, and Restoration aspects is preferred. You will make key contributions to the success of our operations:
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment specialized for matting, including but not limited to Skid Steer, Rubber Tire Wheel Loader, and an Excavator.
- Efficiently install and remove different types of mats while minimizing impact to the site and maximizing longevity of both mats and equipment.
- Engage in routine maintenance to guarantee equipment safety and secure storage.
- Maintain clear communication with ground personnel through a thorough understanding of ground signals.
- Ensure the safe and secure storage of mats, heavy equipment, and tools.
- Maintain detailed logs of equipment usage, mat condition, and maintenance activities.
- Communicate effectively with all site personnel to facilitate smooth operations.
- Uphold and promote a safety-first culture, actively participating in safety meetings, adhering to safety protocols, and identifying potential hazards to prevent incidents.
- Identify and address job-site hazards or safety concerns, initiating a "Stop Work" directive when necessary.
- Represents the company with a high degree of professionalism.
- Knows and follows company personnel and safety policies.
- Support temporary construction needs as directed.
At Dakota, we take on and execute some of the most challenging access jobs in the country. To help us successfully execute our jobs, we are looking for an Operator with these qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent.
- Proficient in operating equipment with efficiency and attentiveness, including but not limited to Skid Steer, Rubber Tire Wheel Loader, and an Excavator.
- Additional proficiency with bulldozers, tractors, grapple trucks, etc., is a plus.
- Capability to work independently and operate heavy equipment with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform thorough pre- and post-equipment inspections, with proper documentation as per company policies.
- Competency in routine equipment maintenance and greasing to ensure equipment longevity.
- Physically able to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods while adhering to safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret access construction plans.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Willing to travel to multiple states in the Southeastern part of the United States and to various job sites.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (day, night, weekends and/or holidays) as needed.
- Be ready to respond promptly to unforeseen emergencies that may affect utilities such as floods, fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other similar situations.
