Americas Gold & Silver is seeking a qualified and experienced Journeyman Electrician to support underground mining operations at the Galena Complex in Wallace, Idaho. This role is critical to maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient electrical systems for underground production, development, and infrastructure.
The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and equipment used in an underground mining environment, ensuring compliance with all safety standards and operational requirements. Qualified fourth-year electrical apprentices who are nearing completion of their apprenticeship program may also be considered.
- Install, maintain, inspect, and repair electrical systems and equipment in underground mine operations.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues on underground mining equipment, ventilation systems, pumps, hoists, and fixed infrastructure.
- Perform electrical work on high-voltage and low-voltage systems in accordance with MSHA regulations and company safety standards.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure safe operations.
- Support underground development and production activities by ensuring electrical systems are reliable and available.
- Work closely with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to coordinate repairs and installations.
- Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and company safety policies at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, inspections, and repairs.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Required: Journeyman Electrician certification or equivalent trade qualification.
- Considered: Fourth-year electrical apprentices actively enrolled in and nearing completion of a recognized apprenticeship program.
- Ability to work with both high-voltage and low-voltage electrical systems.
- Proficient in using electrical testing and diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with underground mining electrical infrastructure and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical codes, schematics, and safety documentation.
- Hourly wage range: $30.92 – $47.10 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and position level (Journeyman or fourth-year apprentice).
- The current work schedule operates on a rotational basis, with employees working approximately six months out of the year.
- The schedule includes extended shifts and built-in overtime, allowing employees to maximize earnings during active work periods.
