Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineeringwho want real-world experience in plant operations, maintenance, and reliability projects.
Key Responsibilities Electrical Systems Support
- Assist with inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, and switchgear.
- Support troubleshooting of electrical circuits and power distribution systems.
- Participate in breaker testing, cable terminations, and insulation resistance checks.
- Update electrical drawings and schematics; maintain technical documentation.
- Assist with compliance reporting and equipment performance tracking.
- Learn and apply OSHA and NFPA safety standards in all tasks.
- Participate in lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
Work Environment
This position combines office and plant-based tasks. Interns must be able to wear PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, respirator, fall protection harness) and work around rotating equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals. Occasional work outside normal business hours may be required during outages or emergent situations.
Remote work is not available. HousingHousing will be provided for students who do not live in the area.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles and power systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office; exposure to AutoCAD or similar tools preferred.
- Ability to work safely in a plant environment and adhere to PPE requirements.
- Hands-on experience with electrical systems in a power plant setting.
- Exposure to preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance processes.
