Electrical Designer/Drafter

Since 1989, ACS has provided control systems integration, design engineering and technical services for PLC, DCS and SCADA systems for industrial and environmental applications. We utilize a wide variety of automation and electrical control platforms including Allen Bradley, Schneider Electric, Emerson and GE. We are certified for UL-508A and 698A control panel design and fabrication.

Electrical Designer - Industrial Control Panels

We're seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Control Panel Designer to join our engineering team, specializing in projects for industrial automation and control panels and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial control panel design and a thorough understanding of relevant codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform detailed electrical control panel design for industrial manufacturing and process control systems.

- Develop industrial control panel design drawings including mechanical panel layout, Bill of Materials, power distribution and I/O wring, in compliance with NEC, UL-508A/698A codes.

- Preparation of motor control circuits and variable frequency drive power and control wiring drawings.

- Determine electrical system requirements, including feeder and circuit breaker sizing and short-circuit analysis.

- Specify electrical control components and devices per project specifications and application requirements.

- Collaborate closely with mechanical, process, and instrumentation and control systems engineering teams for development of control panel designs.

- Prepare control panel drawing and engineering submittals for owner/engineer in conformance with design specifications.

Required Qualifications and Experience

- 5+ years of progressive experience in electrical control panel design.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for developing electrical drawings.

- Demonstrated experience in the design of low and medium voltage power distribution systems and grounding.

- Thorough knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant industry standards and practices.

- Strong understanding of instrumentation and control devices used in industrial automation and control systems.

- Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
