LOCATION 1221 Velma Court, Youngstown, Ohio 44512. Travel required 50-75% of the time to visit customers in North and South America to identify problems and implement solutions directly.
DUTIES: Critical for leading our product development projects and enhancing our operational efficiencies across North and South America, with a significant focus on Mexico and Argentina. Design and develop tooling solutions for the die casting, extrusion, and forging industries. Coordinate with metallurgists and process engineers to optimize product designs and supply chain operations. Oversee projects with budgets ranging from $50,000 to $1.5 million. Manage a team of 2-3 direct reports, including Inside Sales Associate and Engineering Associate.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (or foreign equiv.). In addition to degree, must also have two (2) years’ experience in the following areas: Extrusion, die casting, forging, and hot work tool steel heating systems; JobBoss software; Conducting in-depth analyses of metallurgical properties, ensuring materials meet industry-specific standards (e.g., ASTM A681, AISI H13, DIN 1.2344, ISO 4957, SAE J438, AMS 6431, JIS SKD61, NADCA #207, BS EN ISO 4957, and FED QQ-T-570); Utilizing advanced techniques and tools to evaluate metal compositions, microstructures, and mechanical properties; Working closely with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve metallurgical issues in production processes; Providing technical guidance and support to optimize metal processing techniques, including casting, forging, welding, and heat treatment; Developing and implementing quality control procedures to ensure metal products meet stringent performance standards; Conducting root cause analysis of material failures and developing corrective actions to enhance product reliability and durability; Ensuring all products adhere to relevant industry specifications, particularly those outlined by NADCA and other governing bodies; Leading R&D initiatives focused on developing new alloys and improving existing metal products; Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and bring cutting-edge metallurgical solutions to market; Providing mentorship and training to team members on metallurgical principles and best practices; and Working with business cultures in North and South America, including experience working with team members and customers in different countries or geographic locations. Also requires, Fluency in Spanish and English is required to manage projects and communications within the territory (speaking, reading, writing, and processing drawings in Spanish and English.
