We are seeking a Director of IT responsible for strategic, policy, and long-term operational decisions that set the overall direction for the IT Departments at each of the A.Y. McDonald Industries subsidiaries.
Provide an articulation of the future vision of A.Y. McDonald Industries. Focus on the big picture of what the company wants to achieve and determine what is needed to accomplish that vision.
Provide an industries level strategic focus. Create and implement a vision of one IT area.
Provide a greater level of delegation skills and encourage decision making at the appropriate level.
Develop current staff through training and coaching. Provide instruction to drive higher levels of performance.
Build a succession plan within the IT Department.
Develop a HR Strategy for the IT Department. Develop a plan that identifies the quantity and quality of people required to achieve future business objectives. Identify recruiting and development strategies to achieve the plan.
Provide creative recommendations for innovations and breakthroughs that present an opportunity for a leap ahead in performance.
Encourage cross subsidiary collaboration, creativity and performance to deliver on a common goal.
Develop, manage and implement the company’s strategic IT roadmap that aligns with the business strategy.
Implement best practices for Information Technology including the establishment of appropriate policies, procedures, methodologies, standards and documentation requirements.
Direct implementation and execution of new and/or upgraded information systems via well-defined plans including procedures, deadlines and accountability.
Partners with other department leaders to advise on technology and provide relevant information about status of IT projects.
Manage, develop a strategy, and maintain best in class IT infrastructure.
Provide technology perspective on new and ongoing company initiatives.
Stay abreast of market and IT sector conditions; advise senior management team of potential opportunities and threats.
As a key member of the Executive Management team, establish and maintain strong relationships with all senior executives and board members to facilitate a work environment where mutual support by and of the management team allows taking quicker advantage of opportunities and faster resolution to issues.
Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field plus ten years of managerial experience in IT area. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
